As a company Future Directions are passionate about investing in our staff and staff teams. We have a number of free Apprenticeships that are available to our staff. There are many benefits of investing time in an Apprenticeship on a personal level, for the people we support and their families and for Future Directions as a company.

Benefits for staff:

  • The qualifications are free.
  • Staff can study whilst in paid work.
  • Staff get a nationally recognised qualification that is transferable within the Health & Social Care market.
  • Career advancement can be supported both within and outside of Future Directions.
  • Apprenticeships help staff grow, build confidence and knowledge.

Benefits for the people we support and their families

  • Families and the people we support will have increased confidence in staff.

Benefits for Future Directions

  • We get a trained, more competent and safer workforce.
  • Enhanced productivity and improved staff morale.
  • Support our recruitment and retention and the growth of our own internal talent – e.g. we have woven the apprenticeship into our leadership and management development plans.
  • Increased and improved brand awareness of Future Directions.

What are social care apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are nationally recognised work-based training programmes that help employees gain the necessary skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen industry.

Qualification programmes run for a minimum of 12 months and currently include:

Adult Care Worker (Level 2)
Lead Adult Care Worker (Level 3)
Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management (Level 5)

And later this year it is hoped to include:

Lead Practitioner in Adult Care (Level 4)
Leader in Adult Care (Level 5) which will replace the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management.

It’s been almost 2 years since the new Apprentices Standards were launched. Future Directions are looking forward to the future - things can only continue to move in a positive direction.

Apprenticeships are an important training system that if done right will undoubtedly help Health & Social Care services develop a workforce that is fit for purpose now and for the future.
