#ICAN 2018 and Future Plans

Last year was a fabulous year for Future Directions, we achieved so much on many different levels.

Our annual Celebration Day showcased the many achievements of the people we support. There were presentations sharing inspirational #ICAN stories of determination, perseverance and happiness. There was Mark who, through lots of determination, achieved his dream of having a day trip on a barge, Trafford putting people first and having lots of parties and developing friendships, Mark overcoming obstacles to attend a festival for the first time and SPICE showcasing the amazing work that they are doing in making a difference to people’s lives.

On a staff level, our values driven, hardworking staff teams have, and are, making a real difference to people’s lives.  We have had a really good year thanks to that hard work and effective team-work.  Particular achievements have been:-

  • Enabling the people we support to have the best lives possible, have fun, try new things, go on holiday, have parties and enjoy life to the full.
  • Growing our services and expanding in new areas.
  • Introducing a new training system and many more training programmes.
  • Winning two awards at the Great British Care Awards - big congratulations to Michelle and Gemma! (Click here for more info)
  • Being shortlisted for the Skills for Care Awards – we have been shortlisted for four awards and no other company has ever been short-listed in so many categories!  (Click here for more info)

During 2019/2020 our priorities will be:-

  • To live out our values at every level of the organisation and make a real difference to people’s lives.
  • Enable the people we support to have the best lives possible.
  • To continue with our #ICAN theme, working with the people we support to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
  • Develop a values-based leadership programme to ensure we grow our own values-driven leaders for today and tomorrow.
  • Ensure the people we support are physically healthy and as fit as possible to enjoy life to the maximum.
  • Investing back into the people we support and staff teams achieve our company goals.
  • Look at how we can tackle loneliness and reduce it not only for the people we support, but as part of wider community initiatives.
  • Continue to grow and develop so we can make a difference to as many people’s lives as possible.  Also use extra income to invest back into our staff teams, people we support and build up some reserves.
  • Make the people we support happy and have the best lives possible.  This is the most important thing we can do by living out our values.

We believe in our staff teams and we know we can achieve these priorities and more through working together and living out our values.
