Remembering Pauline and Judith: Paula's Message (28 January 2021)

Life Is Amazing quotePauline StaffordJudith Crossley

To all Staff Teams,

This week it is the funerals of Pauline Stafford and Judith Crossley.

Both Pauline and Judith passed away after short illnesses. Pauline loved a party and was always to be seen doing her wheelchair dancing. Pauline loved nothing better than a good old classic movie. Pauline loved her cat, Elvis, and loved her life with the team in Stockport. Pauline loved to live life to the full and enjoyed her holidays, in particular holidays abroad.

Her team were her family as she had no natural relatives. When Pauline became ill and was admitted to hospital her team went the extra mile and made sure she was never alone. At the moment, with everything going on, hospitals are a difficult place to be, however the team never faulted in ensuring that Pauline’s needs came first and were with her right to the end. Pauline died surrounded by people that loved and cared for her and that is all any of us can ask.

Judith was larger than life and lived life with a passion. Although Judith was only with her team in Manchester for three years, Judith described those years as the best of her life. Judith loved jokes, loved her family, loud music and sessions with Kevin the “Music Man”. One of her favourite memories was going to see the Emmerdale television set. Again, following a short illness, Judith was able to be supported to die at home and this meant Judith’s family could visit and say their goodbyes. Judith was supported by people who cared and loved her and passed away in a place she called home and absolutely loved.

As sad as it is for us to lose such amazing people we must remember and thank these teams for their amazing support. Both the teams truly lived out our values by putting people first, going the extra mile, being creative, adaptable and transparent and enabling Pauline and Judith to have great and fulfilled lives that created the best and lasting memories.

Pauline and Judith’s lives should be celebrated and both funerals are focussing on a celebration of their lives and how amazing both were and will always be remembered.

All our teams can feel incredibly proud that during these difficult times they are making a real difference. Every time our teams live out our values they are enabling people to have great lives and create lasting memories.

Thank you for everything that you do that makes a difference to people’s lives.

Paula
