The development of the 'Good and Outstanding Care Guide'

2nd May 2018 |

Future Directions have supported Skills for Care in the development of their new guide, 'Good and Outstanding Care Guide'.

The updated ‘Good and Outstanding Care Guide’ includes the recent changes to the CQC’s inspection approach and is ideal for providers wanting to achieve or sustain a good or outstanding Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating.

Skills for Care asked Future Directions to be part of the development of the guide due to our recent 'Outstanding' CQC rating for Well Led and our innovative approach to assessing quality within our services.

Paula Braynion, our Managing Director and Joanne Brockway, our Quality Compliance Lead provided Skills for Care articles and quotes outlining how our values led work enabled us to achieve our 'Outstanding' CQC rating for Well Led.

Click here to download the 'Good and Outstanding Care Guide'.

You can find our articles and quotes on pages 29, 245, 266 and 269.

The article on page 29 explains what works for us, how we equip our staff to make sure our services to the people we support are the very best they can be.

Paula’s quote about our values is in the ‘Vision, Values and Strategy’ section of the guide on page 245.

Skills for Care have facilitated the development of an independent Quality Leads Group that currently includes 15 Quality Leads post holders from different care providers. They meet monthly to share ideas and information that can improve services. You can read more about this on page 266 of the guide.

On page 269 there is another ‘What Works for Us’ article. This article outlines how, as well as adhering to CQC regulations, our quality plan is linked to regulations, NICE guidance, SCIE and Skills for Care, Future Directions Values, the annual plan and Good Governance

Being included in this guide is great recognition of the values led work that all our staff carry out on a day to day basis.

Thank you to all of our staff for your continued dedication to living out our values and making a difference to the lives of the people you support.
