Lucy Benson

I organise the smooth running of recruitment in the HR Dept with the help of my Assistant as well as some of the administration work and staffing issues such as; pay, change of hours, change of address/name, terms and conditions, annual leave, staff bank queries, maternity/paternity, flexible leave, purchase leave, staff benefits, TUPE, staff leaving/left, sickness, capabilities, disciplinaries, change of bank details, change of hours, amendment to contracts, inputting new starters, pension queries and pay queries etc. 

I also co-ordinate the I Care Ambassador service and keep my eye on our Bank System updating details regularly as and when required.

I ensure the vacancies on our website are correct as well as advertising on many other websites and contacting other relevant sources relevant to the local area where the vacancy is being advertised.  I present the HR Induction Session every month and attend and complete the HR paperwork on some interview days.

I attend recruitment events and job fairs, job clubs, return to work programmes, job centres, recruitment & workforce meetings, induction and interviews.

I provide general HR support to Future Directions CIC management and staff and deal with HR enquiries from external bodies and potential candidates.

The vast majority of my work is centred on the recruitment process – quality checking vacancy requisitions, posting advertisements on websites, collating applications and obtaining shortlists, liaising with general office / managers / people we support co-ordinators / candidates / learning and development, arranging interviews, recording outcomes, carrying out ID document and pre-employment checks, issuing recruitment documents including contracts and induction lists. I also set up and maintain electronic applicant/employee records and liaise with Payroll and Accounts.

General HR tasks include dealing with HR inbox enquiries, filing staff documents, processing Special Leave, Personal Information Change forms, Amendments to Contracts, maternity/paternity and termination forms and providing external references.

This includes budget setting, monitoring and reporting, cash management, banking, AR, AP and year end liaison with external audit. I am a CIMA qualified accountant with ten years post qualification experience in both the NHS and the private sector.

Ed Atherton

Finance and Administration Assistant

I have several sides to my job at Future Directions.

IT:  I deal with all aspects of the IT across the company.  I deal with any queries from staff, and organise new broadband connections, computers etc at all of our sites.

Finance:  I deal with the purchase ledger.  So, anything we buy, I deal with the invoice - checking it, getting it authorised and then processing it for payment.

Business Development:  I work with John Exton to support him in tendering for new services and work with the team on new projects, making sure that we meet expected IT requirements.

I have worked in all aspects of accounts and IT in the last few companies I have worked in, starting many years ago with manual book-keeping and a stand-alone PC with dot-matrix printer and now working on a cloud-based system in a data centre the other end of the UK.  I have worked in the private sector in businesses ranging from mining rock salt, corporate hospitality and furniture sales.

I am the Administrator at Stanley Grange and provide secretarial support to all Managers on site.  I pull reports for the managers on staff training and liaise with Abbi regarding the booking of courses, update training on People Planner, input room bookings for meetings as required, report any repairs needed on site to properties and support the people we support to access workshops in the community if no other drivers are available.  If I can't help then I will put you in contact with the right person.
