Future Directions celebrates Learning Disability Week 2026

Do you see me? 15th June – 21st June
Future Directions are going the extra mile for Learning Disability Week. This year’s theme is Do You See Me?
Over the coming week we shall be looking at how the people we support, people employed by Future Directions and our volunteers who have a learning disability are seen, heard and valued. At Future Directions we believe this is important because everyone deserves to live a great life.
For the people we support this includes life changing activities under the Do Something New scheme, regular events with the Friends for Life Group and The SPICE Group.
For our values-driven staff teams this includes access to the BHSF app, financial help for those learning to drive and employee recognition awards. Staff members can refer a friend or family member to join Future Directions and receive a financial bonus.
For our volunteers this includes Afternoon Tea sessions at River Beal Cafe and an invite to our annual Celebration Day with the people we support and our staff teams.
Stuart says, “I am proud to be working for an employer that is positive about people with learning disabilities which helps us all to live life to the full.
“What I love about Future Directions is everybody matters, whether it’s our values-driven staff teams or the people we support playing an active part in making sure they all live Great Lives.”
There are over 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability and at Future Directions we celebrate the amazing things that people are doing. Some of which will be posted on our social media channels, including Jorden’s story.
