Future Directions Shortlisted for Three National Awards

Future Directions has been nominated for three awards at this year’s National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards on the 4th July. The organisation has been nominated for The Employer Award, the Outstanding Contribution Award, and The People’s Award.
Our nomination for The Employer Award recognises how we put people first and go the extra mile for the people we support and our support teams. We do this by being transparent, creative, and adaptable.
In being adaptable, the people we support can try a new activity via the Do Something New fund. Our staff teams benefit from an annual bonus scheme, the BHSF app, all of which enabling the people who support the people we support to live great lives.
Our second nomination is for the Outstanding Contribution Award, with our Managing Director, Paula Braynion making the shortlist. Before being our Managing Director, she was our Director of Operations, Deputy Chief Executive, and Director of Nursing in the NHS. Paula is also a Trustee of Learning Disability England, and strives to ensure that people are treated with respect, with their voices being heard.
The People’s Award is our third nomination, which has gone to our experts by experience in The SPICE Group. This is for The Green Superheroes, who make an important and otherwise mundane aspect of life fun. This includes litter pick walks, arts and crafts and reaching out to community groups with their recycling campaigns.
On the nomination, Eric Logan, creator of The Green Superheroes group said, “It would make me happy to get the award. It would show other people what the Green Superheroes have achieved over the years”.
Dr. Daniel Docherty, one of the founding members of The SPICE Group said, “The award would be another achievement that we should be proud of as a team of trainers who are Experts by Experience. I am part of SPICE because making sure people learn from us, and making a difference are my passions.”
The National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards will take place at ICC Birmingham on Friday 4th July 2025.
